My legs feel so weak...

I can't see straight...

I think I should lay down...

And rest...

---

It's gathering day. The day where Patapolis stocks up its resources. And today, Bohrok and Rutina are assigned to do the first gathering. However...

"In the Field of Spores, specifically." Rutina said.
"What? You know that place is known for putting people into sleep, and Ton expects us to go there?"
Rutina examined the flyer Ton gave. "Well, that's what he said. Besides, I can whip up a Waking Potion for the two of us."
"But-" Bohrok protested.
"Relax, Bohrok, it'll be fine. We'll just go there, get some mushrooms, and get out of there. It'll be easy."
Bohrok is comforted.

---

The Field of Spores is a giant field overgrown with mushrooms of varying sizes, ranging from the size of a grain of rice to the size of a house. The mushrooms release so much spores in the air that it refracts the light, turning it to a purple color.
Bohrok and Rutina are standing in the edge of the field. As expected, they are prepared.

"You got the potions?" Bohrok asked.
"Yep." Rutina said, handing over one of the potions to him. "Watch the taste."
Bohrok examined the potion. It held a yellow, syrupy liquid inside. It wouldn't hurt, I guess, he thought.
He drank the liquid. He felt queasy because of the taste, which is bitter and metallic.
"What's in this thing?" He said, coughing.
Rutina smiled. "Well, that's a secret. Drink up." He drank the liquid, and subtly winced.
"How long does this last, by the way?" Bohrok asked.
"About an hour. Not sure."
"You're not sure, and you made me drink it. Does this thing even work?"
"Of course."

---

Upon entering, the pair are immediately in awe of what they see.
Gigantic mushrooms loom over them, dispersing a lot of spores. The spores then refract the light, making it as if they are dancing. The sky turns from blue to a purple color. The whole field looks like it came from another world.
"Wow. Just, wow." Rutina exclaimed.
Bohrok nodded. "Mhm. But, we're not here for the sight. Let's just get what we need and leave."
Rutina frowned. "Come on, lighten up a little. We've got an hour."
"It's just an hour." Bohrok retaliated. "That's not much time. Besides, this place gives me the creeps. I don't care how beautiful it is."
"Fine." Rutina grunted.

---

The two have already spent searching for half an hour, and they are still empty-handed. To add to the problem, Bohrok is getting restless.
"There should be around here somewhere..." Rutina said, with a hint of dread in his voice.
"Come on, give it up already! We've already wasted half an hour of nothing! Let's just go back to Patapolis and ask Ton for another flyer."
Rutina mentally weighed his options. He didn't want to agree, but Bohrok is correct. Half an hour has already went, and the effects of the potion is starting to disappear. He's already feeling light-headed.
But, on the other hand, he wanted to get those mushrooms. They're rare, and make great potion ingredients.
"Fifteen more minutes, then we go." Rutina said.
No response.

"Bohrok?"

Still no response.

Rutina shouted at the top of his lungs. "BOHROK!!!"

A distant voice replied, "I'm over here!"

Rutina turned to the origin of the sound. He can barely make out a silhouette of Bohrok in the fog, beside on what appears to be a big piece of rock.
He ran. "I'm coming!"
"Hurry up!"

Rutina ran faster.

When he came to Bohrok's aid, he saw that the rock was no rock; it was a Patapon.
"She's unconscious!" Bohrok nervously replied. "We have to get her out of here!"
Rutina looked at the girl. "She's been under the effects of the spores for hours. We have to get here out of here, or she'll suffocate!"
Bohrok looked on all directions. " Do you know where we went?"

Oh no.

Rutina wasn't able to reply.

"Rutina..." Bohrok stammered. He felt hopeless. It was already getting dark, and with fog, navigation is almost impossible.
Rutina didn't know what to do. But they had to get out of there, or they'll all suffer the same fate.
He carried the unconscious Patapon, and started running. Bohrok followed him.

"Rutina... I feel... dizzy..." Bohrok said, trying to catch his breath.
"Don't give up!" Rutina barked. "We have to run to the edge of this place!"

The fog doesn't seem to end.

I feel weak.

I feel dizzy.

But I should hold on.

I should keep running.

And running.

We're near the edge.

I can feel it.

Just, a little more...

They all collapsed.

---

She woke up on what looks like a tent. She still feels very dizzy, her vision impaired and blurry.
She managed to say, "Where am I?"
A Barsala comes to her aid. "Don't speak. Save your energy."
She mentally refuses. "Who are you?"
"I'm Lucas."

Finally, I was able to finish! :iconfinallyplz:

Welp. This caught my attention as a thumbnail, and then I read the whole thing. (I don't usually read lit on DA.) Nice going! I especially enjoyed the pacing :D
